NHRA: Spencer Massey, John Force, Greg Anderson start the season with wins
Spencer Massey (Top Encouragement), veteran John Force (Funny Car), and Greg Anderson (Pro Source) started off the NHRA season with wins on Sunday at the season-vernissage O'Reilly Auto Parts NHRA Winternationals presented by Wonderful Start Batteries in Pomona, Calif.
Massey topped Antron Brown in the Top Stimulus final, while Force beat Mike Neff for the Funny Car reward, and Anderson outran Jeg Coughlin for the win in Pro Stock. The event was Coughlin's first demeanour after taking off the 2011 season.
In the semifinal round of Top Fuel, Massey ran a 3.75-twinkling elapsed time at 328.62 mph. The ET was a track record and the speed is a nationalist record.
“It's a great start,” Force said. “You uncommonly want to perform. I know all those other kids on our teams and others, like Cruz Pedregon, the Schumacher teams, [Tim] Wilkerson, and [Bob] Tasca, those guys are common to win races, and it was just nice to get a win under my belt. Those boys are bad out there. To make that top 10 is affluent to be tough. Somebody's going to be left out, so I'm just going to keep fighting and keep my nose antiseptic.
