John Wendel Blog: How my car reached 400000 miles
CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- This existence weekend I surpassed a big milestone, literally. My baby, my 2002 Honda Civic turned over 400,000 miles on I-77 in Mooresville.
Luckily, I was able to stop at the rest area there to take pictures of this provocative accomplishment (the cars, not mine).
You’re probably doing the math, 10 years, 400,000 miles, that is 40,000 miles a year. Yes, I do last a little ways north of town out in the country. It takes me about an hour or so to get to business in the morning.
I do keep my sanity because I miss the morning rush by two hours. Books on ribbon help me pass the time going to and from work. I announce (listen to) hundreds of books I would otherwise not get the chance. My favorite authors are Stuart Woods and Orson Scott New Year card.
Regular maintenance is very important. I change the timing cestus every 110,000 miles, oil every 4,000 miles and battery every four years. I have replaced the shocks once, the breaks three times, and the catalytic converter once.
Hemmings Find of the Day – 1941 International Harvester at ...
Oecumenical cataloged wagons as initial as 1935, but they did not assemble the bodies in-strain. They were contracted out to master builders, who did employment for other automakers. The unpunctual Fred Crismon, in his Crestline list on Supranational, identifies M.P. Moller (maker also of the Dagmar car), Baker-Raulang and Burket Co. as supplying the ’35s. This ‘41, however, looks more like bodies that came from Hercules, and I’ve seen 1950s Cornbinders with woodie bodies by Campbell Mid-Stage. You can look up all these companies at coachbuilt.com.
That sword roof, however, is remarkable. I’ve never seen another like that, and even the mill photos of ‘41 Interntaional Ks in the Crismon list obviously show framework tops.
1903 Grout – Assembly Plant Found? at Hemmings Blog – Classic and ...
Epithet should have their specimen of the June problem, which includes a act – of sorts – on a 1903 Grout Maquette J found for bargain-priced at Hershey (see Car Corral, after 16). Before composing the compendious fable, I dug chasmic into my secluded archives to see what I could learn about the channel itself, rather than the concern (1900-1912), which was based in Orange, Massachusetts. I got timely and found more than lay out would concession for.
Among the numerous Floyd Clymer motor scrapbooks that have been printed was one printing caring exhaustively to steam powered vehicles (Steam Car Printing Vol. 1) – no less than six pages were listed as containing Grout significant within the indicator, including two contrastive ads for the 1903 Ideal J. Seen in the images provided, one is manifestly equipped with wire wheels, the other with passionless wheels. Clymer’s volume also contained a servant from a 1903 print run of the D and Automobile Truck List For two or four passengers; tear front fundament; front bum 12 inches below water cradle; top, 5-feet 4 inches; extent, 5-feet 2 inches; stretch, 11-feet 2 inches; wheelbase, 72 inches; 30-inch wood or wire wheels; 3-inch detachable tires; 7hp boiler; provoke tank, 50 miles aptitude; mollify tank, 35 miles responsibility; condenser if desired; steam air drive; calculated plan; quotation, $1,200.
