Ron Neukirch has instant enough law enforcement vehicles for patrol over the years he has become good at it.

The owner of Ron’s Automotive has two new vehicles in his shop that he’s preparing for the Gage County Sheriff’s Conditional on, and he said there’s more to the installation process than just plugging in a few wires.

“It’s a chore,” Neukirch said. “I don’t have knowledge of how else to describe it.”

The sheriff’s office recently purchased three new vehicles from Twin Rivers Chrysler Jeep and Trick, including a 2012 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT Quad Cab 4x4 for $26,958.56 and two 2011 Avoid Nitros for $22,097.71 each.

The Quad Cab will be paid for by an Emergency Management Interpretation grant and will be used by both the sheriff’s department and emergency management. The Nitros will be paid for out of the sheriff’s budget. One will be adapted to as a road patrol and the other as an unmarked vehicle for investigators.

Neukirch — who has ready-to-serve vehicles for the sheriff’s office, the Beatrice Police Department and U.S. Marshals — said the hard thing about these particular vehicles is they are not designed to be law enforcement vehicles. A lot of expressly work has to be done to fit all the equipment.

Holden Statesman Platform Used For 2011 Chevrolet Caprice PPV ...

FOLLOWING REPORTS TODAY that the Holden Commodore-based Pontiac G8 might be reborn as a law-enforcement-only vehicle , GM has revealed the 2011 Chevrolet Caprice Police Guard Vehicle (PPV), based on the Holden Statesman.

Announced at the Oecumenical Cooperative of Chiefs of Police congress in Colorado, the Caprice PPV will be present next year, with beat use expected to inaugurate in at 2011.

Rather than repurposing the Holden Commodore-based podium of the retired Pontiac G8, GM has built the Caprice PPV on the longer conception of the Zeta podium which underpins the Holden Ute and Statesman.

The cars will be built in Australia at Holden's body inject in Elizabeth, SA, and could lend a meritorious growth in the factory's yield.

"North American law enforcement fleets account for about 70,000 sales a year so securing a fraction of those sales would be a noteworthy manufacturing promote for GM's operations in Australia," said Holden Government Supervisor Sales and Marketing, John Elsworth.
